> magazin4 > Text

KRÜGER & PARDELLER, PAUHOF, Public Space with a Roof (PSWAR)

Opening: September 3, 2010, 7 pm, with a performance of Krüger & Pardeller together with the Danish musician Nikolaj Hess

Abstract form can no longer be perceived as non-relational or non-representative. Today, by always also referring back to its own history, it ultimately establishes a narrative, putting itself at odds with its original aim of referring only to itself.

The potential of abstraction today lies not in an attempt to find exclusive answers, but in examining the many translation processes and variable interconnections between production, reception and context. Consequently, it is often the hidden, not directly visible transformations that become the objects of such study...

THE EUROPEAN SEX MACHINE
20.05.2010
NUBLU, New York

You fancy seeing sweating musicians performing some serious push and pull? Then you shouldn't miss Krüger & Pardeller's latest invention on view at Nublu on May 20, 9pm, as part of the HESS IS MORE residency.

Trained at Vienna's Universities of Applied Arts as well as Fine Arts, Krüger & Pardeller love crossing over: their practice successfully does the splits between art, design, architecture, curating and exhibiting to an extent where one wonders: Why did we come up with all these classifications in the first place? One of Doris' and Walter's leitmotifs is flexibility. Experimenting with stretchable materials such as latex and time, they are also rendering their artistic mode of operation increasingly flexible. A new nomadic project includes just what it needs: a camera and a mini portable projector allowing art production and presentation wherever they happen to be

CONCTRETE GEOMETRIES:
Spatial Form in Social and Aesthetic Processes, 15.05-05.06.2010
AA London

Concrete Geometries is a work-in-progress term derived from the synthesis of ‘concrete’, registering an existing reality or actual experience, and the abbreviation ‘geometries’, denoting spatial form. Set up as a research cluster at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, Concrete Geometries investigates the intimate relationship between spatial form and human processes – be they social or aesthetic – and the variety of new material entities this relationship might provoke.

To advance this research, the cluster launched an international PREVIEW as the first in a series of events featuring selected work.

OPEN STUDIOS
07.05. - 16.05.2010
ISCP, Brooklyn, NY

A special, 15th anniversary ten-day exhibition of international contemporary art, this event presents works by selected artists and curators currently in residence at ISCP.

Krüger & Pardellerʼs practice consistently explores architectural conditions and the governance of mobility. Working predominantly with sculpture, they transcend architecture, design and engineering to question the function and use of space, place and objects. Their practice sits between art, architecture and philosophy to produce abstract interpretations of identity, class and economic politics.
